Pteridomania

Wardian cases were used in begin of the industrialization, the air was very polluted because of the extensive use of carbon and a lack of filters. People start in at the same time to import tropical plants to Europe, and built for them in their homes the Wardian cases. The ferns became popular even grow into a fern fever so called  Pteridomania . 

Ferns transform more carbon dioxide to oxygen then other plants. The sculpture shows a transport case, which was used to bring the ferns from oversea to Europe. The grid to protect the plants is from neon, it refers to the fragile balance which the nature is subject to.
