GYMNASTIC APPARATUS
Gymnastics, whether of mind or body, always generates energy. The gymnastics apparatus exhibited here is not suitable for physical exercise. The fragile neon tubes would shatter under the weight of our body. Instead, we can use them for mental exercise. By immersing ourselves in the blue neon light, we can open up suppressed parts of our minds. Blue is the color of peace, spirituality, hygiene, dynamism, and creativity, but also of a
respect for the depth of tradition.
The forms of the gymnastics apparatus shown here are based on those used in Swedish gymnastics, a system developed by Peter Henry Ling and his son. These two Swedes were guided by the idea of national revival, which they sought to achieve by stimulating historical memories and by biological regeneration through systematic exercise.
